February 2012 - This month I celebrate Black History Month, honoring the men and women who've helped define our culture, and ultimately, our world. From Civil Rights to Science, to Entertainment to Politics, brave pioneers paved the path for us today. So we take the shortest month to recognize one of the longest legacies. You know the old saying is true: Black History is American History. As you celebrate in your own way, make sure to check out the Chanta Rand Show. This month, my guests will be:
2/7 - P.L. Parker
2/21 - Niambi Brown Davis

December 2011 - Thank you for riding along with me on my amazing journey this year and thank you for your support of my work. I appreciate all the emails and blog posts that have inspired me to keep coming up with creative stories. I've been fortunate to have published three books in 12 months. Whew! I got tired just writing that sentence. That said, I'll be taking a break during the month of December to focus on family and to rejuvenate my mind and spirit. I'll be back in January. In the meantime, remember to be good to yourself, surround yourself with positive poeple, and always count your blessings. No matter how bad you might think you have it, somebody up there is watching over you.

November 2011 - It's a free country. Or is it? I'm celebrating Veteran's Day all year long - because I think we need more than just one day to honor the men and women who are sacrificing their lives to protect our freedom. I'm a military brat and I don't care who I offend by saying that. I'm proud to be the daughter of a man who served 22 years in the U.S. Army. My father is retired in San Antonio, TX where a lot of other military retirees live. I try to pay homage to the military in my books by mentioning the armed services and how it affects my characters. I may not always agree with the government's policies on foreign affairs, but I always show respect to our men and women in uniform who put their lives on the line so I can continue enjoying basic liberties that many of us often take for granted.
If I want to stand in long lines at the Apple store waiting for the latest technology, I can do so without fear of local militia driving by and bombing the store. If I want to lay on my ass all day, eat chips, and watch a Clint Eastwood marathon on TV, I can do so without fear of reprisal. If I want to vote a straight Democratic ticket, that's my right. No one's going to fire me from my job for doing so. I can do this because I live in a democracy and no matter how shitty you might think things are sometimes, at least I know there are people out there dedicated to preserving that democracy. So, to the troops out there, wherever you are, I salute you. Thank you, and God Bless you!

September 2011 - As we commemorate the anniversary of September 11th, I'd like to send a shout-out to the women and men of the armed forces, dedicating themselves in service to our country. These brave heroes are sacrificing with their minds, bodies, and spirits so U.S. citizens can enjoy the peace and safety that many times doesn't exist outside our borders. So, in rememberence of those who give their lives for our every day, and in recognition of those victims and heroes who died on September 11th, I say thank you. You are remembered, and your sacrifice was not in vain.

August 2011 - "Oh My God, Becky!" Look at this heat. I'm trying to stay cool but it ain't easy when the temps in Dallas are reaching triple digits on a daily basis and breaking more records than Usain Bolt. But in the world of romance, we love turning up the heat - and there's nothing hotter than a steamy love scene.
